Trans-Siberian Orchestra Debuts ‘The Christmas Attic’

TSO - 2014

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra will be performing their rock opera “The Christmas Attic” for the first time ever on their 2014 winter tour, which begins this November. The original album “The Christmas Attic” was released in 1998 and then re-released as part of “The Christmas Trilogy Box Set” in 2004, and features one of the band’s most popular songs, “Christmas Canon.”

According to TSO creator, lyricist and composer Paul O’Neill, the first half of the show will include some songs from “The Christmas Attic” that have never been played live, and the second half will feature iconic classics and fan favorites, such as “Wizards In Winter,” “Requiem” and “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24.”

“After kicking off the New Year in front of two million fans at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate, followed by our second European tour, the band felt that a perfect way to end the year would be to perform the only rock opera from the trilogy that has never been seen live,” said O’Neill. “As I have always said ‘it is fun to write the songs, it is fun to record them, but they are never really completed until we perform them in front of a live arena audience.”

TSO has sold more than 7 million albums and inspired generations of fans to rediscover the multi-dimensional art form of the rock opera. The band has taken their tour to more than 80 cities worldwide and played to over seven million people — Billboard magazine named them as one of the top touring artists of the past decade.

Dave Chappelle Announces More NYC Dates

Dave Chappelle

Did you know that Dave Chappelle is coming back to New York City? The funny man will be appearing at Radio City Music Hall next month, and as expected, those five shows sold out in record time. But if you missed out on Dave Chappelle tickets the first time around, you’re in luck, because he’s adding three new dates at the venue: June 24, 25, and 26.

The shows, which go on sale June 2nd, will include a number of musical guests, including The Roots, Erykah Badu, Busta Rhymes, DJ Premier, and Janelle Monae, along with a full orchestra.

The three-night stint will kick off on the 24th with a performance by the Roots, with the 25th including Busta Rhymes, DJ Premier and Monáe. Badu will finish out the run with a set on the 26th. More guests are expected to be announced.

If you haven’t seen Chappelle in person, you have no idea what you’re missing out on. After a long hiatus, Chappelle returned to the stand-up circuit last year, and given his love/hate relationship with the public, it’s best if you see him now, since you never know when he’ll go back into hiding!
