Kelly Clarkson’s Summer Tour

Kelly Clarkson returns to the road this summer behind a new album, “My December,” that features 13 tracks either written or co-written by the original “American Idol” winner.

The singer is also slated to appear at the July 7 Live Earth concert at East Rutherford, NJ’s Giants Stadium, which takes place just a few days before the official start of her tour.

“This will be the biggest tour I’ve ever done,” Clarkson said in a press release. “It’s all about the music–we’re bringing extra musicians and we’ll be making an arena environment intimate because I want the fans to be part of the show! And you’ll hear all your favorite hits too!”

Stanley Cup Excitement!

Can the New York Rangers slow down the Buffalo Sabres’ speedy offense? They’re going to have to find a way if they want to stand a chance in this series. We are going to see some great hockey in this Eastern Conference second round match up. Given their plethora of talent and relentless pursuit of offense, the Sabres are always a treat to watch. The Rangers have once again become the darlings of Manhattan, advancing to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in a decade. They did so in shocking fashion, disposing of Southeast champion Atlanta in four games, while the Sabres wobbled only slightly in dispatching the eighth-seeded New York Islanders. Both teams boast terrific coaching and unheralded depth (although the Sabres’ lineup has a higher profile after two strong seasons). Example? Fourteen Rangers had at least a point in four games against Atlanta and 16 Sabres found the score sheet against the Islanders. Each team boasts one of the game’s brightest young goaltending talents in the Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist, who hasn’t given up more than three goals in his past eight starts, and Buffalo’s Ryan Miller. This series will see a lot of offensive fireworks, hard hitting and great goaltending. Rangers in seven!

American Idol Scandal

Sanjaya Malakar, the singer who horrified and captivated millions in his improbable “American Idol” run, was finally voted off the show Wednesday night. When the result was announced, Malakar wiped away tears and got a big hug from LaKisha Jones, the next lowest vote-getter. Many had predicted that he would make it all the way to May finale. Among Malakar’s supporters: radio shock jock Howard Stern and the Web site VotefortheWorst.com.

Rumors are swirling that AI producers had something to do with Sanjaya’s departure, but we’ll never know the truth. What we do know is that American Idol Live Tickets will be huge this summer, and will probably sell out in record time!

Hits-laden ‘NOW 24′ compilation leads US chart

During its second week in stores, the 24th edition of the highly successful “NOW That’s What I Call Music!” hits-compilation series moves up one notch to top the US album chart.

Fans snapped up 213,000 copies “NOW 24″ last week, enough to knock Tim McGraw’s “Let it Go”–which sold 177,000 units and debuted at No. 1 a week ago–down to the No. 2 slot, according to Billboard, which bases its album chart on Nielsen SoundScan retail data.

Martina McBride’s “Waking Up Laughing” makes its debut at No. 3, with 144,000 copies sold, and Hilary Duff’s “Dignity” moved 140,000 copies to debut at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Timbaland’s “Timbaland Presents Shock Value” sold 138,000 copies during its first week out, and debuts at No. 5, according to Billboard.

Rounding out the Top 10 are Beyonce’s “B’Day” (which was re-issued last week as a double-disc with six new songs), Daughtry’s self-titled debut, Paul Wall’s “Get Money, Stay True,” Akon’s “Konvicted” and Alison Krauss’ “A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection.”
