Historically Low World Series Prices!
World Series tickets are usually hot sellers, with the cheapest seats in the stadium costing nearly $1000/ticket. But in the midst of this economic meltdown, ticket prices have downright plumetted!
For tonight’s game in New York, there are still tons of tickets available, with the cheapest seats starting at around $300! That’s still a decent markup on tickets that carried a face value of $51, but a far cry from prices in years past.
So what gives? Some would argue it’s weather related, but even for the first Phillies home game on Saturday (when it’s supposed to be sunny and 68 degrees), prices start at around $400.
It’s a simple case of economics, supply and demand. Demand is a bit soft, so sellers are forced to lower their prices accordingly. It’s great for those Phillies fans who couldn’t afford to go last year!
Same token, it sucks for the sellers who are hoping to pay for next year’s invoice with their profits from a few games. Trust me, I’ve fielded at least 20 calls today from season ticket holders trying to sell their tickets, all with unrealistic ideas about how much their tickets are worth.
