The skelatal remains of 20-year-old Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington, who went missing in October after attending a Metallica concert in Charlottesville, VA, were found Tuesday morning in a farm field about 10 miles from the John Paul Jones Arena, according to state police.
Police said Harrington’s remains were found by a farmer while he was inspecting fences on the remote, 700-acre property in the Blue Ridge Mountains foothills. Police confirmed the woman’s identity today.
According to reports back in October, Morgan Harrington left the venue during a Metallica concert, and later called her friends inside to tell them she could not get back in, as the venue doesn’t allow re-entry during shows. She told her friends not to worry, and that she would try to find a way to get home. She was never heard from again.
Police are treating the case as a likely homicide.
