Fresh off a slate of December reunion shows, post-punk icons Public Image Ltd. have mapped out their first US tour in 18 years, a run that will follow the band’s upcoming appearance at Southern California’s Coachella Festival.

The group kicks off the 16-city headlining tour on April 17th in San Francisco. Highlights of the trek include shows in Seattle (4/20), Chicago (5/2) and New York City (5/18).

In December, Public Image Ltd. reunited for seven UK shows to mark the 30th anniversary of the group’s 1979 release, “Metal Box.” Live recordings from the December 2009 shows are on sale via PIL’s website.

Public Image Ltd was formed by John Lydon (a.k.a. Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten), guitarist Keith Levine and bassist Jah Wobble after the implosion of the Sex Pistols in 1978. The group produced eight studio albums over a somewhat erratic 15-year career, including 1979′s “Metal Box,” which is widely considered a seminal document of the post-punk genre.
