The 16th annual Vans Warped Tour will take to the road this weekend, mixing punk-rock performances with carnival-style attractions, including an amateur skateboarding competition.
North America’s longest-running touring festival begins June 25th in Carson CA, and will visit amphitheaters and arenas in 42 cities across the continent before wrapping up August 15th in Hillsboro OR.
Bands on the roster, which varies by city, include 3OH!3, Alkaline Trio, Andrew W.K., Dropkick Murphys, Everclear, Motion City Soundtrack, Pennywise, Reel Big Fish, Riverboat Gamblers, Sum 41, The All-American Rejects and The Voodoo Glow Skulls, among others.
In addition to the musical attractions, each stop along the tour will also include an amateur mini-ramp skate jam, featuring local pre-qualified contestants competing for cash prizes, as well as tents and attractions manned by festival sponsors, including Monster Energy, Trojan, Skullcandy and Wonka.
For the 14th consecutive year, the tour will again feature the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands stage, the world’s largest unsigned-band competition. More than 15,000 bands will compete throughout the excursion, with winners walking away with Guitar Center shopping sprees, performance spots on the tour and a recording session alongside multi-platinum producer Matt Squire.
