Snoop Dogg to release new album

snoop.jpgSnoop Dogg is set to release his new album next year. “Ego Trippin” is due out in March. Snoop’s ninth album will be the follow-up to 2006’s The Blue Carpet Treatment.

The premiere single, produced by Shawty Redd, titled Sensual Seduction, is an ode to the early eighties. The catchy up-tempo showcases Snoop’s talents in a completely different capacity, unlike anything we have ever heard from the rap veteran. “Sensual Seduction” features Snoop playing both the singer and the rapper, crooning about fleshly desires through melodic verses. On it, Snoop’s vocals are reminiscent of the signature “talk box” machine, inspired by the funk sounds of Roger and Zapp.

The video for the single was directed by Melina, known for her vibrant hued and fantasy-like shots (Eve “Tambourine, Ludacris “Money Maker”). The video takes viewers back to the early eighties and pays homage to some of Snoop’s favorite artists like Roger Troutman, Rick James, Prince and others from that time. Taking a cue from the era when music was all about having fun, the video showcases video vixens channeling the Mary Jane Girls and Vanity 6, while Snoop plays the leading man.

Snoop says, “Sensual Seduction is like a throwback feel-good song. I wanted to have fun with this one….and the video is crazy!”

Broadway Strike Settled!

strike.jpg

Striking Local One Broadway stagehands have finally hammered out a deal with theater owners and producers.

After a work stoppage that left more than two dozen shows dark for 19 days, the League of American Theatres and Producers and Local One, the stagehands’ union, have finally reached a settlement. The news came at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday November 28th, after three straight days of marathon negotiations.

In their contract negotiations, Local One and the League had been haggling over everything from the number of workers required to load in a show to how much a guy wielding a mop should make. What the two parties settled on — a five-year deal, the details of which have not been revealed to the press — is still subject to a vote by Local One members. However, the union’s official website states that ”the Local One negotiating committee is firmly behind the ratification of the contract.” For its part, the League also seems content, as president Charlotte St. Martin called the deal ”a good compromise.”

Broadway tickets are always a huge seller for the Christmas season, and this strike resolution couldn’t have come at a better time. Our phones haven’t stopped ringing since the news broke, and tickets are flying off the shelves! Top sellers include Wicked, Jersey Boys, Young Frankenstein, and The Little Mermaid. Don’t miss out, purchase your tickets now!

Bon Jovi - Lost Highway Tour

bon jovi

Bon Jovi has announced the first round of dates for a mammoth tour that will take the veteran rockers to more than 10 countries around the world over the next half year. “We’re starting in New Jersey and then taking it to the world,” lead singer Jon Bon Jovi told a packed house Thursday night (10/25) in Newark, NJ, according to a press release issued through the tour’s promoters, AEG Live. The show marked the band’s first date of a ten-night engagement inaugurating the city’s brand new Prudential Center.

Including the nine remaining Newark shows, plans are currently in place for more than 40 concerts in the US, Canada and Japan, with additional shows expected in New Zealand, England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Holland and Austria, according to promoters.

Bon Jovi is touring behind “Lost Highway,” its ninth album of original material, and first since 2005’s platinum-selling “Have a Nice Day,” which spawned the Grammy-winning duet “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” with Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles.

How Do Ticket Brokers Get Their Tickets?

Thanks to the Hannah Montana hysteria, ticket brokers have come under fire in recent weeks. Just last night, NBC10 in Philadelphia had their Investigator team “get to the bottom of it”. It’s funny how the media is trying to spin this whole ticket shortage as a result of ticket brokers, when the simple fact is that there just wasn’t enough supply to meet the demand of the public. RMG Technologies gave a VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE of brokers an unfair advantage over the general public, but in cases like this report, they weren’t even part of the issue.

Here are the facts: RMG’s software was only used to manipulate Ticketmaster. The tickets for the Philadelphia Hannah Montana show were sold through ComcastTix. So there was no way for brokers to manipulate the supply of tickets. Furthermore, there were residency restrictions, as well as ticket purchase limit. Given those facts, you’ve now narrowed the field to local brokers, who each could at most purchase 4 tickets (out of an available pool of roughly 16,000 tickets). Hardly the numbers that would control a market.

In Philadelphia, the real blame lies with ComcastTix - Their systems were so grossly overloaded, that if you didn’t already have an existing account prior to the onsale, there was no way you could checkout within the 8 minute window they gave you. And instead of adding servers to their cluster, they just threw you in a virtual waiting room once they hit capacity. If you weren’t in immediately, you were doomed from the start.

I wish more reporters would take the time to get all the facts straight before going to air. But then it wouldn’t make for good television..
