Rammstein Announces 2012 Tour

Rammstein, the Berlin-based band known for its incendiary live performances, will bring its brand new live production to North America this spring for 21 dates, kicking things off on April 20th in Fort Lauderdale. Rammstein tickets go on sale this week.

Demand for Rammstein’s pyrotechnic-laden performances has been so great in Europe, where they regularly play capacity level soccer stadiums, the band spent nearly a full decade without setting foot on North American shores. In December 2010, the sextet returned to North America for two sold out shows including a performance at Madison Square Garden. Rammstein followed with a nine-day trek of major North American cities in spring of 2011.

The Los Angeles Times described the live experience as “epic stagecraft on a Wagnerian scale, several notches up from most arena rock.”

Rammstein first stormed America in 1998, touring with a set based on their Grammy-nominated breakthrough second release, “Sehnsucht”, featuring “Du Hast”, the song that brought the world’s attention to the band. During their 1998 “Family Values” tour, praise was high, as well as indignation: band members were jailed in the U.S. on indecency charges due to the highly provocative live show.

Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw Reunite For Brothers of the Sun Tour

Country music superstars Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw will reunite for the musical event of 2012 as they headline the Brothers of the Sun Tour.

The Brothers of the Sun Tour will feature two of the top names in country music. Chesney, a four-time CMA Entertainer of the Year, and McGraw, a three-time Grammy winner, will highlight the show. Special guests include Grace Potter and the Nocturnals as well as Jake Owen.

“Tim and I have been great friends since we first toured together, and I can’t wait to get back on the road with him,” Chesney said. “He’s one of my closest friends in music and in life, and I know this tour is going to be something special.”

“Our friendship was forged on the road, so it’s going to be a blast heading out with Kenny again,” said McGraw. “We’ll be having as much fun on stage as the fans will be having in the audience.”

The tour will kick off June 2nd in Tampa, FL, and wrap Aug. 25 in Foxboro, MA. Along the way there will be stops in many of the nation’s largest cities, including East Rutherford, NJ, where Chesney set a record this summer for paid attendance to a live country show in the New York City area. There’s also a stop in Nashville, a place neither artist has played regularly.

Gwar Continues Tour Despite Death Of Guitarist

Following the unexpected death of guitarist Cory Smoot, Gwar announced that they’ll complete their North America tour, but they will retire the character of Flattus Maximus in Smoot’s honor.

The heavy metal monsters have announced that they will continue their current tour despite the death of Cory Smoot, who died aboard their tour bus on November 3rd. “Although the great temptation would be to return home, curl into a foetal position, and mourn, we can’t do that,” Gwar explained. “[Cory] would want us to go on and would be pissed if we didn’t.”

Smoot had been a member of the band since 2002, the fifth guitarist to take over the role of devilish, dreadlocked Flattus Maximus. He performed a “great show” in Minneapolis on Wednesday night, but hours later, as the band prepared to drive into Canada, frontman Dave Brockie said he discovered the 34-year-old’s body.

“He was in his bunk, unresponsive, and it quickly was clear that he was dead,” Brockie, aka Oderus Urungus, wrote in a statement. “It was without a doubt the most horrible moment of my life.”

The cause of death is still not known.
